Decided that instead of a miserable 11 hour drive or an expensive 2 hour flight, I’d try a relaxed 12 hour train ride. Amtrak here I come.

I’m in love with this Lamborghini concept

I like driving, but I hate the monotony of driving alone across Missouri and Illinois. Considering the 21-25mpg gas mileage that the TA gets I’m pretty much spending the same amount to travel. I took Amtrak from STL to Chicago in high school for a scholar quiz championship and thoroughly enjoyed it. Add to that my experiences riding trains around the Czech Republic and I really think that this is the best way to travel...

Seriously, this thing is so cool

That headlight integration is amazing. Also look at that thru body aero.

...except that the train leaves here at 3:00am, which sucks so much.

Fuck, that Lambo is ugly. What’s up with their mid-engine concepts? The production cars look fantastic, but this causes me physical pain.

I just want an Asterion.

Plan on it taking 15 or so hours, be surprised if it’s actually 12. I’m 12 hours the other direction of Chicago, and it’s been on time about 50% over the past 8 years I’ve been taking it. The closer you are to the end point, the more behind it can be.

My one Amtrak experience was terrible, but I hear that line runs a lot better than the one I took going up the east coast.

I enjoyed it the last time I did it. I’m in no particular hurry to get there, so I can enjoy the calm.
